Sifting Through Hall of Fame Leftovers

Spring training is still a month away. The National Baseball Hall of Fame is helping to fill the void. Here are a few more crumbs from the election results announced Wednesday:

o. I asked baseball scholar Bill James what pleased him most about the results.

"Oh, I was glad to see (Bert) Blyleven get in," he said. "(Roberto) Alomar was a great player ... maybe not the easiest guy to root for."

o. As for the players not elected on Wednesday, who is the most deserving of election?

"Tim Raines," James said.
