Matt Hasselbeck Regroups, Carries Seahawks Back After Rough Start

Matt HasselbeckSEATTLE -- On his third play from scrimmage Saturday, Matt Hasselbeck saw his pass intended for Seattle's Ben Obomanu glance off the wide receiver's hands and into the arms of New Orleans cornerback Jabari Greer.

Moments later, the Seahawks, 10 1/2-point underdogs in the NFC wild-card playoff game, were down 10-0, thanks in large measure to that interception.

"Obviously, that's not the way you want to start the game,'' Hasselbeck said. "But Pete (Carroll, the Seahawks' coach) always says to us, 'You can't lose a game in the first quarter.'''

Hasselbeck made sure they didn't. In what could have been his last game with the Seahawks -- the veteran quarterback is a free agent at the end of the season -- he came up big to extend his Seattle tenure by at least one more weekend.
