Chuck Cecil Out as Tennessee Titans' Defensive Coordinator

Chuck Cecil won't be back as Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator.

Cecil, the Titans' coordinator the past two seasons, was informed on Thursday he will not be retained by the franchise, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reported sources saying Thursday.

Cecil said he understood the decision.

"I was pretty surprised," Cecil said. "Nothing surprises you in this business. You just have to move on. I can't be more thankful than the opportunity I was given and I'll take those things with me to my next job. I don't want to turn this into a negative spin kind of thing. That's life in the NFL. I owe a debt of gratitude to Jeff Fisher and Bud Adams and the Titans organization and I wish them the best of luck moving forward.''
