Had the Islanders lost their matinee against the Devils this afternoon, I could make the analogy that the following video describes the Islanders' season in a nutshell. Ah heck, despite winning and breaking a 14-game losing streak, it is still a perfect analogy for how this season has gone for the team.Halfway through the first period, the Islanders were up 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Jesse Joensuu. New Jersey's Colin White hit PA Parenteau from behind near the Devils' bench, tossing Parenteau into the boards head first. In today's NHL, it's a given that in this kind of situation a member of the opposing team should instantly come over to White and try to exact vengeance. Bruno Gervais of the Islanders tried to do just that. The key word in that sentence being 'tried.' Let's go to the tale of the tape:
