The NFL playoffs produce a type of energy, an atmosphere in a football city that is unlike no other time during the calendar year. Fans will dress in their team's colors and gear throughout the week and the local news coverage increases.Baltimore is no different as the town bleeds the color purple and the City Hall is lit up in purple at night, along with some other areas. But this year, Baltimore took their support to another level with the help of some local recording artists and producers to create a song -- with the franchise's approval -- for the Ravens (12-4).
The song is called "Ravenstown" and it has been electrifying the Baltimore-area airwaves since Tuesday. The hip hop song depicts the feeling of game day at M&T Bank Stadium with fans being excited and joyous, while Baltimoreans of all ages paying their respect to the legendary Hall of Fame Colts quarterback Johnny Unitas as they rub the foot of Unitas' statute when entering the stadium.
Baltimore fans are very knowledgeable about football, especially the Ravens, and they haven't been over the top with enthusiasm for their team as Charm City's finest start their third consecutive playoff season Sunday against the Chiefs in Kansas City. The fans are concerned about the perceived slow progress of quarterback Joe Flacco and the conservative play calling of offensive coordinator Cam Cameron.
