It sure looked like Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers, and Josh Freeman were targeting 5-foot-9 Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes."Nah," Grimes said.
You sure? Flacco certainly kept trying to zip passes past Grimes that Thursday night in the Georgia Dome. The Baltimore quarterback was hunting Grimes on the right side of the defense in the first half.
Grimes finally hijacked a pass that set up an early third quarter score in a game the Falcons won, 26-21.
Freeman, the Tampa Bay quarterback, tried to keep a drive alive last Sunday with two minutes left at the Atlanta 27. The Bucs trailed, 28-24. Freeman looked right three times, which was to Grimes' side of the field. The third time, Grimes stole a pass and sealed a win.
Grimes still shakes his head side to side in a big no when asked if he is being picked on.
"I really don't feel honestly that anybody is targeting anybody on our defense," Grimes said. "If you look at the film, it doesn't really look that way."
Perhaps it only looks like Grimes is getting picked on because when there are opportunities, he is making plays and putting himself in the spotlight. He has four interceptions, which is tied for the team lead with second-year safety William Moore. Grimes is also knocking down passes and making tackles (he's second on the team).
