Vicente Padilla will return to Southern California for another year, agreeing to a one-year deal with the Dodgers, the team announced Friday.Padilla, who signed with Los Angeles in August 2009 after he was released by the Rangers, will serve in a utility role for the Dodgers, bouncing between the rotation and bullpen as needed. There was even some talk earlier this week, as reported by FanHouse's Jeff Fletcher, that Padilla could get an opportunity to close.
"Vicente's flexibility and willingness to be in whatever role we may need him in was very important to us," said Dodgers GM Ned Colletti in a statement. "We believe he is capable of filling practically any role on our staff and we are very glad to have him back."
