PHOENIX -- The last time the Grizzlies were in Phoenix, the Suns rallied from a 15-point deficit to win, thanks to an improbable buzzer-beater from Jason Richardson to send the game to its first of two overtime periods. Rudy Gay placed the blame for that loss solely on his shoulders afterward, for making a free throw he was supposed to intentionally miss, which allowed the Suns to advance the ball to give them the slimmest of chances to tie with just 0.4 remaining on the game clock in regulation. If Gay took the blame for that loss, then he should get an equal amount of credit for his team's 104-98 overtime victory on Wednesday.
Zach Randolph did most of the heavy lifting for Memphis, pouring in a season-high 34 points and grabbing 17 rebounds, and Mike Conley was a strong distributor, dishing out a career high 14 assists. But it was Gay who hit the 3-pointer at the buzzer to get the Grizzlies to overtime, after they had managed to give back all of the 14-point lead (and then some) they took with them into the beginning of the fourth quarter.
