Markus Naslund's Number Finally Retired by Canucks

The lasting impression of Markus Naslund's final day as a Vancouver Canuck was his furrowed brow.

It was the final game of the 2007-08 NHL regular season. The Canucks had been eliminated from the playoffs and played a meaningless game - which they lost 7-1 to the Calgary Flames. The night belonged to Trevor Linden as he was serenaded in the final game of his NHL career.

Flames captain Jarome Iginla called his teammates back onto the ice to shake hands with Linden. As No. 16 circled the ice to much fanfare, Naslund quietly left the Vancouver ice for the final time.

In the dressing room afterwards, Naslund looked as comfortable as someone about to undergo a prostate exam as he repeatedly stated that he was uncertain about his future. He went to the New York Rangers for a season but then retired.
