Streaking Miami Heat Build Off Early Struggles

MIAMI -- There are several notable streaks making headlines in the world of sports this week, with the biggest one of all being Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre's streak of consecutive starts ending due to injury. In the NBA, the Dallas Mavericks had won 12 games in a row but lost at home Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

At the AmericanAirlines Arena on an unusually frigid Monday night, several streaks were kept alive. The New Orleans Hornets became the latest victim to the Miami Heat, who not only extended their win streak to nine games but also became just the sixth team in NBA history to win as many game by double figures. One more such win will tie the NBA's all-time record, currently held by the 2008 Houston Rockets, 2004 New Jersey Nets and 1947 Washington Capitals.

But that's not all: the star trio of Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James combined for precisely 75 points for the fourth straight game. Wade, in fact, has scored at least 25 in Miami's last six. The Heat's streak of 234 games with at least one block is the second-longest in franchise history, as is their streak of 360 games with at least one 3-point shot.
