Vincent Jackson, Chargers Rolling, but Need Help to Reach Playoffs

SAN DIEGO -- What a shame it would be for the NFL if the Chargers fall short of the playoffs, especially now that San Diego's entertaining offense has regained receiver Vincent Jackson.

The NFL is show business, and Jackson gave a national TV audience reason not to channel-surf away from a Thursday night game.

A 6-foot-5 speedster who missed 10 games to start the season because of a salary squabble, Jackson caught three touchdown passes in San Diego's 34-7 rout of the 49ers, who, if left to their own devices, would've put their own fans to sleep

"We were expecting Vincent to come in and explode, and that's what he's done," said Chargers center Nick Hardwick. "He's a heck of a ballplayer. He's a beast."

Quarterback Philip Rivers was without tight end Antonio Gates, a six-time Pro Bowler, and lead receiver Malcom Floyd. But with Jackson making plays for him, Rivers notched a 150.5 passer rating by going 19 of 25 for 273 yards.

"He seems to be super comfortable," Rivers said.
